Strand Type
FINLEY RHYS
Hideo Kojima’s “strand” concept offers a uniquely stretchy metaphor that bridges disparate realms of experience, providing a unifying conceptual framework that illuminates the complex interconnectedness of existence.
Introduced by Kojima in his 2019 video game Death Stranding, the concept of the strand presents itself as a nexus of physical, social, and metaphysical connections. The strand is a construct that challenges traditional ontological categories, blurring the boundaries between the real and the virtual, the individual and the collective, and the temporal and the spatial. In doing so, it offers a new paradigm for understanding human existence in an increasingly interconnected yet fragmented reality.
